Bry-Air, a key company of the Pahwa Group, has inaugurated a check dam in Bala Dehra village, Alwar, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. This project marks Bry-Air’s 60th anniversary and addresses the region’s ongoing water scarcity challenges.

Alwar, located in a semi-arid zone, regularly struggles with water shortages, making local communities heavily reliant on the monsoon season for farming. Bala Dehra village, situated at the foothills of the Aravalli Range, is particularly affected by limited rainfall, which spans only from June to August, leading to severe water shortages that hinder agricultural activities.

The newly constructed check dam is expected to benefit over 2,500 residents by replenishing groundwater reserves and nearby wells. It will support the cultivation of crops like wheat, barley, and mustard across 50 hectares of agricultural land.

The dam will also recharge 10 open wells and 80 bore wells, providing a vital resource for the local community. By capturing and conserving rainwater, the check dam will significantly enhance the groundwater levels, offering a much-needed water supply boost for farmers.

The project was executed in partnership with the Sapna NGO, with active involvement from the village’s gram panchayat and residents who helped identify the site for construction. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures, including Deepak Pahwa, Chairman and Managing Director of Bry-Air, and Vinita Pahwa, Director of Bry-Air, who served as chief guests.

Other notable attendees included Anandita Pahwa, Head of CSR Initiatives at Pahwa Group, Sudhir Pratap Singh, General Secretary of Sapna NGO, and Krishna, the Sarpanch of Bala Dehra village, along with local villagers.

During the event, Deepak Pahwa stated, “The construction of this check dam demonstrates our commitment to societal development as a responsible organization. This project aims to enhance the quality of life in the communities we serve. With previous success in building check dams, we hope this new addition will produce similar positive outcomes.”

This check dam is the fifth built under Bry-Air’s ongoing initiative focused on improving water availability both on the surface and underground to support agricultural productivity. By providing a more stable water source, the dam is expected to recharge groundwater resources and support both agricultural and domestic needs, offering a sustainable livelihood option that encourages the younger generation to continue farming. The project represents a significant effort in combating water scarcity in the region by promoting effective rainwater management and ensuring a reliable water supply for both farming and daily life.
